Job Purpose To deal with all aspects of litigated and non-litigated personal injury claims predominantly but not exclusively where there has been a minor brain injury (usually with additional injuries). Key Duties & Responsibilities Deal with Fixed Fee and OIC Portal RTA, Untraced and Uninsured MIB claims with the intention of maximising damages for the customer, by considering and pursuing all relevant head of loss. Obtain relevant and necessary evidence (medical or otherwise) in a timely manner ensuring the costs are reasonably incurred and recoverable. Hitting KPI's to include cases settled and issue. Attend conferences, hearings and CMC's with Counsel when necessary. Take a pragmatic commercial approach to settlements and advising customers as to litigation/cost risks. Ensure any appropriate instructions are obtained from any relevant lay and/or insurance customers. Proactive steps to build a rapport and ensure customers are kept informed and up to date on a regular basis – at least monthly throughout the life of the claim with communication by way of phone calls, video calls and/or meetings or emails. Build constructive and positive working relationships with Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. Signposting e.g. Welfare Benefits check. Headway or other relevant charity. Check the authenticity and validity of claims by speaking with customers regularly and carrying out due diligence checks on social media platforms and on line searches. Continually risk assess from the outset and duration of the case to ensure that the prospects of success are sufficient to justify continuance and to extract from cases where prospects of success fall below 51%. Experience & Knowledge Ability to run your own caseload. Knowledge of OIC/RTA Portal regulations. Ability to issue proceedings on the DCP. Have a good working knowledge of the CPR and/or other relevant case law and/or legislation and progressing claims in a timely manner in accordance with the CPR. The ability to liaise and build up a rapport by using effective communication with all external agencies during the life of a claim including medical agencies, investigators, barristers etc. Good IT skills with a sound working knowledge of VF or a similar case management system and essential MS Office knowledge.
