Description
This role reports into the International Sonobuoy Programmes Director with the Head of discipline as their functional Line Manager and will work closely with the Sonobuoys Chief Engineer and Sonobuoy Project Manager. As the Sonobuoys SDA you will be overseeing technical integrity throughout product development, across Technology Readiness Levels and in-service support. You will also be responsible for providing technical direction across the Sonobuoy project teams (including design reviews) and supporting customer meetings. Products include Ultra’s portfolio of in-service Sonobuoys and Sonobuoys currently in development.
This is a Senior Principal or Principal level role suitable for someone with a sonar background…
* An appreciation of Sonar Systems design - including deployment, communications, and safety.
* Design experience in one of the following engineering disciplines and an understanding of the others: Systems, Electronics, Mechanical or Software.
* This role requires eligibility for Security Check (SC) clearance (ideally with no caveats).
We have three sites: Greenford, Loudwater and Weymouth. This is a hybrid role giving you the flexibility to balance working from home and being on-site as necessary, with occasional UK travel. To be successful in the is role you are likely to need to be regularly on site at Greenford e.g. a couple of days per week.
There will be a two-stage interview process. The first will be with the Sonobuoys Chief Engineer and an SDA, and the second will be with the International Sonobuoy Programme Director and Head of discipline. The first will cover the role and technical suitability and the second will focus more on leadership and business/team fit, with a short presentation on how you would go about establishing yourself as the Sonobuoys SDA.
