The Endoscopy Unit at York offers a fast paced working environment within our new purpose built seven roomed Endoscopy unit, where we can support you to learn and develop your Endoscopy and nursing skills.
The department performs upper and lower GI investigations, ERCP, small bowel capsule, manometry and physiology investigations, bronchoscopy and EBUS procedures. Procedures are performed both diagnostically and therapeutically.
Alongside this we offer a nurse led pre-assessment and anti-coagulation clinics providing assessment and advice to patients pre procedure.
The post holder will take part in an out of hours on-call service to support gastroenterologists managing the emergency care of patients who require intervention. On call is a 24/7 rota. The post holder will be supported by experienced staff while training and on completion of competencies will be independent.
Working hours are Monday to Sunday, between 8am-8pm. Please note these hours are currently are under review. The post holder will be expected to work weekdays and weekends.
* Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures

* Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
* Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
* Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
* Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct
* Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
* Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures
