Band 7 Personalised Care and Choice Specialist Midwife

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Band 7 Personalised Care and Choice Midwife to join our dedicated team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust providing a high standard of midwifery care to families in Leeds. This role will involve working with families, primarily in the antenatal and postnatal period, to ensure their care is personalised to their individual preferences and choices.
Leeds maternity service is continually changing and evolving to meet the needs of our population and ensure our families have a positive birthing experience. We are looking for midwives who are experienced, professional, kind and passionate about delivering personalised, patient centred care.

Main duties of the job
Key work will focus upon improving outcomes for a specific cohort of pregnant people. It is anticipated that the post holder will possess the requisite skills and abilities to be the care coordinator for a group of pregnant people with the most complex health needs. The post holder will provide visible leadership and evidence based information and education to service users and their families, and health professionals, in line with Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust policies, the NMC Midwives Rules and Standards, the NMC Code and current public health guidance.

JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY
The Specialist Midwife will work in partnership with service users, the multi-disciplinary team and local stakeholders with a specific focus on protecting the health and wellbeing, and improving outcomes for a specified cohort of families accessing Maternity services. They will work collaboratively with other internal and external stakeholders in primary and secondary care and the third sector to ensure optimal support with the aim of improving outcomes and reducing any identified health inequalities.
The post holder will be responsible for providing complex and sensitive information in a range of circumstances where interpersonal and communication skills are essential particularly in high emotive circumstances and they will facilitate and contribute to the delivery of a seamless integrated package of care tailored to the needs of the individual.
The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to support the implementation and delivery of evidence based care.
They will act as an expert resource and be a positive role model providing sound professional knowledge and leadership to all members of the multidisciplinary team within the maternity service. They will ensure the relevant guidelines and clinical pathways reflect current evidence ensuring care is of the highest quality.

Essential
* Evidence of continuing professional education and development.
* Experience in all aspects of maternity care with a keen interest in the area of specialism specific to the midwifery post.
* Able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competence in practice post registration qualification in speciality.
* A keen interest and understanding of the area of specialism specific to the midwifery post.
* Demonstrable experience in developing self and others and changing practice.
* Proven leadership and management skills.
Desirable
* Experience in the area of specialism specific to the midwifery post.
* Evidence of leading and effectively managing quality improvement.
Qualifications
Essential
* Registered Midwife.
* Degree in Midwifery (or demonstrable evidence of comparable experience).
* Qualification/course in leadership.
* Masters Degree or can demonstrate that they are working at a Masters degree level.
Desirable
* Masters Degree or working towards Masters level qualification.
