About Us
We are in the exciting phase of opening a brand-new Alternative Provision in Swindon, dedicated to supporting disengaged young people. Our vision is to provide a flexible, nurturing, and tailored education for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Our goal is to equip students with the skills, qualifications, and confidence to succeed in their education and beyond.
As we prepare to launch, we are looking for a Teacher of SEND to play a crucial role in shaping our curriculum and ensuring we deliver a high-quality education that meets the needs of our students and their mainstream placements.
The Role
This is a unique opportunity for a passionate and innovative teacher to contribute to the development of our new provision. You will be responsible for delivering a curriculum that is engaging, accessible, and tailored to individual student needs while ensuring their learning aligns with their mainstream placements. You will also oversee the qualifications students work towards, ensuring they have the best opportunities for progression.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development & Teaching:
* Contribute to the design and implementation of a bespoke curriculum that supports both academic and personal development.
* Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of SEND students.
* Work closely with students, families, and staff to create individual learning plans that reflect student goals and mainstream requirements.
Qualifications & Student Progress:
* Identify and deliver appropriate qualifications that align with student abilities and aspirations.
* Measure and track progress with appropriate testing, ensuring attainment aligns with goals.
* Support students in preparing for exams and assessments, when necessary.
Collaboration & School Development:
* Work alongside the leadership team to shape and refine the vision and structure of the Alternative Provision.
* Build strong relationships with mainstream schools, ensuring seamless transitions for students.
* Contribute to creating an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment where students feel valued and supported.
Behaviour & Well being Support:
* Implement trauma-informed and restorative approaches to behaviour management.
* Support students in developing resilience, self-regulation, and confidence in their abilities.
* Work closely with support staff, external agencies, and families to provide a holistic approach to student development.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a motivated, adaptable, and student-focused teacher who is excited about the opportunity to be part of something new. You must be a qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with:
* Experience teaching or working with SEND and/or SEMH students in an alternative provision, mainstream, or specialist setting.
* A strong understanding of differentiation and flexible teaching approaches to support diverse learning needs.
* A passion for curriculum development and ensuring qualifications are accessible and meaningful for students.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, families, and schools.
* A proactive, solution-focused mindset with a commitment to making a difference in young people’s lives.
* A creative and flexible approach, understanding that education should be tailored to meet the needs of each student.
* A strong understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to ensuring the welfare of all students.

Location: Swindon (New Alternative Provision)
Hours: Part-time (Hours to be confirmed/negotiated)
Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications
