Job summary A full-time replacement (10 PA) Consultant Haematologist post is available at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital (SMH), Aylesbury and Wycombe Hospital (WH), High Wycombe. This is a replacement post created to maintain the department at 8 substantive consultants. The appointee will be expected to provide, along with the current consultants, a comprehensive clinical and laboratory haematology service for Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. The successful applicant will be expected to have broad experience in adult general and malignant haematology and be experienced in managing haematology patients in inpatient and outpatient settings, including patients on high-intensity chemotherapy. The applicant will be invited to negotiate an area of sub-specialty interest. Main duties of the job The appointee will be expected to provide, alongside the current consultants, a comprehensive clinical and laboratory haematology service for Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. Candidates are expected to be broadly trained in haematology and must hold full and specialist registration (haematology), with a licence to practise, with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview. Applicants that are UK trained, must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by the date of interview. Applicants that are non-UK trained will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT. Existing consultants are experienced in general and malignant haematology and currently have areas of special interest covering haemostasis and coagulation, transfusion, haemoglobinopathies and paediatric haematology and share general laboratory duties. The appointee will be invited to negotiate an area of special interest within the team as well as being experienced in general and malignant haematology.
