Hampshire Constabulary welcomes applications from transferring and re-joining Special Constables. We offer a bespoke selection process which recognises your prior experience in the role of Special Constable.

Entry requirements for Special Constables
There are no minimum qualification requirements; however, you must successfully complete the selection process.

2. Step 2 – We will invite you to attend a competency and values-based interview.
3. Step 3 – Completion of vetting clearance, medical clearance, fitness test, references, and training needs analysis.
4. Step 4 – Completion of identified training needs.
To allow us to promptly review applications and determine eligibility, we ask candidates to upload pictures of their tattoos in the "My Documents" section of the application form so that they can be reviewed and approved. Please note, that if we are not able to review your tattoos promptly, there may be a delay in your application being processed.
Expectations and Benefits
This role is voluntary, and hours can be completed flexibly to fit around your current commitments. You are required to complete a minimum of 16 hours per month (192 hours per year). Within these minimum hours, you are expected to complete all necessary training for the role, including annual personal safety and first aid training.

Job Purpose
In the role of a Special Constable, you will perform and exercise police duties and powers under the supervision of, and supported by, the regular police. You will assist the regular police in solving local policing issues in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Special Constables are required to complete an average minimum of 16 hours per month (192 hours per year). Previous experience as a Special Constable within Hampshire Constabulary in the last 5 years or as a serving Special Constable in another policing area is preferred.
