We are excited to welcome a Family Worker to one of our Child Protection teams in North Dorset locality. Our Family Workers working within Child Protection teams are responsible for the delivery of support to children, young people and families. Working alongside social workers and colleagues within our locality teams and our valued partner organisations, you’ll work with families to ensure they are able to thrive. The post holder will: Deliver direct work with children, young people, parents and families in the family home and other community locations Use relevant case management systems, databases and business intelligence tools as directed by the Team Manager Provide information, advice and guidance to children, young people and families Co-work cases with social workers Assess parenting skills and help people to build physical and emotional caring abilities through a range of practical activities Deliver parenting and behaviour management support to children and families Support families during statutory child protection processes Keep up to date with knowledge of local service provision Coach, mentor and motivate families to make and sustain changes Stay with families during crisis situations Hold cases of children in early help and children in need About you: The post holder will be expected to have: Experience of working with children/young people either in a family setting or through a childcare setting either in a voluntary capacity or through formal employment. Experience of working with partner agencies in order to keep children and young people safe from harm. An understanding of child development and parenting The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Further Information This is a full time role, 37 hours per week. This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.
