Main Responsibilities The responsibilities of the role are: The progression of development proposal consultation casework involving analysis and validation of information, interpretation / use of geospatial data, and collation of information to formulate the departments position. Engage with developers/applicants/planning authorities/other parties accordingly including attendance at meetings, drafting and issuance of consolidated responses, or other submissions needed, to represent the departments position. Engage and maintain working relationship with stakeholders and technical specialists to acquire relevant information and advice, progress solutions to issues when required, so as to ensure assets and operations are safeguarded. Provide input and support to Parliamentary/Secretariat business. Management of team and workstreams: managing processes to ensure they meet requirements; ensuring outputs are delivered in accordance with processes; management and overview of workloads and workstreams; perform quality assurance; and provision of support and training to team members. Location The role is based at Whittington Barracks, Lichfield and the successful candidate will be expected to regularly attend for face-to-face meetings and collaboration. Alongside the advertised locations, other DIO locations may be considered and offered providing that it meets the business need of the post. DIO Business Area Estates The Defence estate is one of the largest landholdings in the UK and covers an estimated 1.8% of the UK land mass (200,000 ha). This is complemented bya significant UK Defence presence overseas. Estates are the in-house real estate team within the DIO (part of the UK Ministry of Defence) supporting infrastructure needs across a high-profile Public Estate. We acquire, manage, safeguard, and dispose of Defence real estate. Our unique customer knowledge and insight of the Defence Estate enables our in-house team of property professionals to provide in-depth advice to our Military customers. The Team - Specialist Teams Specialist Teams includes Chartered Surveyors, Registered Valuers and Safeguarding Officers who, between them, providecomprehensive land, estate and property management services to the Overseas Estate, Estate wide Valuation & Rating Services and Safeguarding ofDefence assets and operational capabilities. The Safeguarding team sit within Specialist Teams and are the MOD lead for the formal consultation process through which MOD isengaged on development proposals from house extensions to nuclear power plants, from solar farms to oil rigs and offshore windfarms. The team coversthe whole of the UK and can offer advice to operational overseas sites. The team provides adviceonrelevant requirements to guide MOD developmenton existing sites; enabling a more effective use of the retained estate; the disposal of MOD sites without compromising capabilities; estate acquisitions;safeguarding new technologies, assets, and capabilities.
