Senior Pharmacy Assistant - Theatres and Critical Care

We are looking for a Senior Pharmacy Assistant provide Pharmacy support duties to Critical care and Theatres at Ipswich Hospital.
You will work independently to manage Pharmacy in top up areas and liaise with the Pharmacy team when complex issues arise. For this role you will need to have a the NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant or equivalent or working towards this.
In this role you will undertake duties supporting the Theatres and Anaesthetics Specialist Pharmacist and Ward Based Pharmacy Technician (T&A) in Theatres and critical care unit.
You will also manage the supply of medicines and other critical pharmacy supplied consumables to theatres and CCU, ensuring top-up services to these areas supply stock to required levels, pre-emptively working with the T&A Specialist Pharmacist, Logistics team and CCU/Theatres staff to manage Short-falls or changes in Drugs and consumables.
As part of this role you will liaise with CCU/Theatres/specialist Pharmacists and Logistic staff to ensure efficient day to day management of stock.
You will assist the Pharmacy Supply Team Leader to ensure that senior support is available and cover where appropriate.
Main duties of the job
* To co-ordinate with the top up team to ensure an efficient service is arranged in times of own absence and statutory bank holidays by planning a top-up rota for distribution and theatre/critical care staff to refer to.
* To identify and remove in-date drugs no longer required from critical care and theatres following the Pharmacy procedure for 'returns'.
* To maintain record of drugs "borrowed' from critical care and ensure wards are debited/credited appropriately.
* To distribute out of stock reports to Pharmacy link personnel in theatres and ensure drugs on "to follows" are on order by liaison with Pharmacy procurement staff. Inform specialist pharmacist promptly if supply problems are identified.
* To deliver Controlled drugs to the CCU and Theatres

Person Specification
Experience
* Daily administration of stock using an electronic stock management system(s) - including stock checking and reconciliation
* Demonstrates effective communication skills through team working in complex/multi-disciplinary team environments
* Self-Managing daily workload - in a stock/stores/logistics environment
* Checking, storage and distribution of medicines or equivalent goods in regulated and controlled environments
* Acute/Community pharmacy stock management
* Experience of dealing with members of the public in a service capacity ensuring good customer service
* Working with all levels of pharmacy staff including management.
* Use of computers
* Experience of Pharmacy Robotic systems
* Has provided training to junior staff
* CCU/Theatres stock management
* Experience using databases and basic report writing
* Experience using Wellsky stock control software
Qualifications
* Pharmacy Services Assistant Level 2 or GPhC recognised equivalent qualification
* English GCSE level 4 or above/ equivalent UK nationally recognised qualification
* Maths GCSE level 4 or above equivalent UK nationally recognised qualification
