This position is designed for a senior trainee who is likely to hold their CCT or equivalent level of clinical and surgical experience. The successful applicant will spend the year within the Aortic Surgical Service performing all aspects of open major reconstructive surgery including root, ascending and arch replacement. In addition, there is opportunity to participate in components of endovascular aortic intervention, where appropriate. In additional to the surgical training aspects of the position, the successful candidate will be expected to organise the monthly aortovascular MDT; take specialist referrals and participate in the out of hours emergency aortic work commitment. The successful candidate is expected to function at a high clinical level at all times within the service.
