As a GP Partner, you will deal with a wide range of health needs in the Primary Care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. As a member of the team, you will be encouraged to set an example to others, assist in their education and training, and play a role in target achievement and service development.
Caring for Patients
1. Practise evidence-based medicine, in line with national and locally agreed guidelines.
2. Conduct patient consultations during the practice's clinical appointment hours.
3. Conduct telephone consultations and home visits as appropriate.
4. Check and sign repeat prescription requests.
5. Check, manage and process patient test results.
6. Prescribe in line with local and national guidelines.
7. Refer patients to secondary/urgent care and additional interventions as appropriate.
8. Manage long-term conditions and patients with complex problems.
9. Promote healthy living strategies and give health and wellbeing advice, generally encouraging patients to follow a healthy lifestyle.
10. Carry out patient testing and screening as required.
11. Make autonomous clinical decisions relating to patients' health needs.
12. Contribute to the development and implementation of practice guidelines, policies and procedures.
Delivering High-Quality Services
1. Provide services to the practice's patient population, to the highest possible standard, in line with competencies and professional code of conduct.
2. Monitor and maintain the standard of care provided, taking appropriate action if standards are not met, through self- and peer-review, benchmarking and evaluation.
3. Undertake clinical governance and clinical audit activities to ensure the continual improvement of service delivery.
4. Participate in reviewing and responding to complaints, significant events and other shared learning activities within a structured framework.
5. Support the performance of team members and collaborate in improving the quality of healthcare and service provision, in line with local and national policy and strategy.
6. Work within the practice's framework for identifying vulnerable patients and apply policies relating to the treatment of vulnerable patients.
Management and Leadership
1. Manage workload, staff availability and cover, in collaboration with fellow partners.
2. Make, implement and adhere to decisions, in collaboration with fellow partners, including following agreed processes to raise concerns.
3. Ensure the practice and all staff follow best practice, as set out in clinical guidelines and identified through audit.
4. Action and refer concerns and issues as appropriate.
Practice-Related Duties
1. Process medical reports, referrals and correspondence.
2. Record and collect data for audit purposes.
3. Make timely, clear, computer-based records of consultations and contact with patients.
4. Maintain administrative records relating to the practice contract and enhanced services.
5. Contribute to providing a supportive environment for other staff through informal catch-ups and contact.
6. Attend and contribute to in-house meetings, including clinical, educational/training-related and administrative meetings.
7. Attend meetings and events held by external agencies and stakeholders.
8. Contribute to teaching and training clinical staff as appropriate.
