Applications are invited for the above full-time post for this 660 bed acute hospital serving a local population of approximately 400,000.
The main responsibilities of the Locum Consultant will be as follows:
1. Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the care of all patients presenting to the hospital.
2. To share with colleagues, the management of Obstetric and Gynaecological patients requiring admission.
3. To undertake duties as defined within agreed job plan.
4. Teaching and training of intermediate grade and junior medical staff, nursing staff and medical students.
5. To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning clinical governance and audit.
6. To have responsibility for and actively participate in continuing professional development (CPD).
7. To participate in on-call rota providing specialist and timely advice.
Main Duties of the Job
Opportunity has arisen for an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant with a special interest in Gynaecological Oncology mainly at Luton hospital which is part of the newly merged Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a 12 month locum post with interest in Gynaecological Oncology. The post holder will be expected to support our consultants in delivering comprehensive care to women who attend the department.
Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (as well as other health and social care partners) have embarked on a strategic change programme known as the Integrated Care Systems (ICS). As a result of this, the successful candidate may be required to adapt their job plan in the future to work across more than one site within the area; this may also include delivering aspects of care in community settings which supports the Trust's vertical integration strategy.

Person Specification
Registration Essential
* Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice (GMC licence to practice is mandatory before employment commences).
* Specialist Registration in Obstetrics & Gynaecology or eligibility to enter it within 6 months from the time of the interview.
Qualifications Essential
* MBBS or equivalent qualification.
* MRCOG or equivalent.
* ATSM in Urogynaecology.
Desirable
* MD or equivalent Higher Degree or evidence of relevant research.
Clinical Experience Essential
* Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
* Comprehensive knowledge and experience in Urogynaecology and ability to offer expert clinical opinion on range of problems.
* Able to take full and independent responsibility for clinical work and delivering a service without direct supervision. Including chairing the gynae-oncology MDT in person.
* RCOG ATSM Gynaecological Oncology.
* Experience in colposcopy.
Desirable
* Colposcopy BSCCP accreditation.
* ATSM in Vulval disorders.
Clinical Effectiveness Essential
* Able to demonstrate a broad understanding of the principles and elements of clinical governance.
* An interest which improves the Obstetrics and Gynaecology pathway in all aspects.
