This is a developmental role where you will be working alongside the Quality Engineer, improving and standardising our processes and procedures. There will be particular attention to detail to developing processes and carrying out measurements to support the work within the automotive sector.
Outputs
* Assist in quality inspection of raw materials, in-process components and finished products.
* Carry out measurements of parts using the correct measuring equipment e.g. Checking Fixtures, Vernier and CMM
* Complete certificates of conformity and submit to clients
* Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality issues
* Gather information required for and contribute to 8D completion including root cause analysis and problem solving activities.
* Suggest and implement appropriate counter-measures (e.g. Poke Yoke) to help reduce PPM defect rate
* Gather information to assist the part approval process
* Patrol shop floor to seek assurance that products being manufactured and packed conform with customers’ requirements and implement SPC (Statistical Process Control) to ensure standards are measured
* Draw up initial visual aids and work instructions and adjust/improve as necessary
* Monitor and ensure correct use of work instructions on shop floor (product audits)
* Support shop floor with training on products and processes
* Support the NPI team on the introduction of new products and processes
* Ensure scrap data is correctly recorded and presented to Manager for PPM count
* Suggest and implement as directed, continuous improvement ideas, from a quality standard perspective
* Suggest and implement as directed, cost-saving & scrap reduction ideas
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment, in line with 5S protocols
* Carry out ISO/IATF internal audits (training will be provided)
Personal
* The ideal candidate will have at least one year's experience of working in Quality within a manufacturing environment, preferably plastic injection moulding
* Be able to use a variety of measuring equipment including; micrometer, vernier and CMM. CMM programming knowledge and experience is not essential but would be an advantage.
* An engineering qualification such as a Level 3 BTEC in Engineering, or equivalent is ideal
* Knowledge and experience of New Product Introduction/Part Approval processes would be an advantage
* IT skills including use of Microsoft Office 365
* Able to demonstrate attention to detail, noticing small discrepancies and ensuring precision in measurements and inspections
* Commitment to following quality assurance procedure and maintaining standards (IATF)
* Proactive at identifying areas for improvement and implementing them
* Strong problem solving skills to analyse data, identify trends and implement solutions
* Ability to communicate well with customers
* Team player with a willingness to work collaboratively with production & engineering teams
* Ability to train/coach others

Hours
This is a day role where you will work at least 40 hours per week Mon-Fri. A flexible approach to working additional hours, possibly on evenings or occasional weekends is requested.
