THE ROLE
The IT Manager is a member of the Business Operations Department. We are responsible for managing and continually improving the Company Operating Model, driving efficient operations, improving performance and decision-making through data, and enabling strategic execution by the broader business.
Reporting to the Director of Business Operations, the IT Manager is responsible for the Company's IT operations and Information Security.
As well as hands-on maintenance and administration of IT infrastructure, hardware assets and software applications, managing user accounts and permissions and providing effective stakeholder support, the role requires someone who can lead on compliance with ISO 27001 and other security standards, improve efficiency through optimised software usage and cost control, and work with the broader department and business to plan for and drive the adoption of AI-driven solutions to enhance operations.
The ideal candidate will be a dependable problem-solver, capable of defining, documenting and improving IT processes, integrating them into the Company Operating Model and rolling up their sleeves to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of IT services for a remote-first organisation.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
The success of this role will be based on proficiency in the following areas:
1. IT operations & technical support: Provide technical support and manage IT infrastructure, devices, and network health
2. Information Security: Maintain ISO 27001 compliance and continually improve information security practices
3. Operational efficiency & optimisation: Evaluate and optimise software subscriptions and usage to improve workflows and reduce costs
4. Process definition & documentation: Define and document IT processes for integration into the Company Operating Model
5. Vendor & budget management: Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee the IT budget
6. AI planning and adoption: Work with others in the business to identify and introduce AI-driven tools to enhance operational efficiency
EDUCATION BACKGROUND & TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
1. Proven experience managing IT operations, infrastructure networking and security
2. Proven experience of security standards and legislation, including maintaining ISO 27001 compliance
3. Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to technical support
4. Proven experience in managing IT hardware estates in a remote environment
5. Deep familiarity with core operational software environments (Google Workspace, MS365 and AWS preferred)
6. Experience with scripting and automation tools
7. Familiarity with IT process documentation and process improvement practices
8. Experience managing IT budgets and vendor relationships
9. Effective task and project management skills
10. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
11. Relevant education qualifications and certifications (e.g. Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science or related field, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer) are a plus
