Software Acquisition Engineer - Systems Engineering and Integration Location: Hybrid role with 2-3 days per week at Abbey Wood Contract Duration: Until 30/06/2025 option to extend Clearance Level: SC Cleared £450per day inside IR35 About the Team The Uncrewed Air Systems Delivery Team is responsible for a range of innovative platforms, divided into three key delivery pillars: UAS 1: Focuses on specific S2 categorisation platforms, such as TIQUILA and Peregrine, with an emphasis on spiral development and urgent capability requirements. UAS 2: Oversees larger, theatre-level operational capabilities, such as Watchkeeper. UAS 3: Manages the largest drone platforms, including Protector and Reaper.This role sits within UAS1 and focuses on delivering software engineering support for 'Mini' capabilities. Key Responsibilities As the Software Acquisition Engineer (Level 2), you will: Act as the primary point of contact for software technical support within the UAS1 Minis portfolio. Engage with Front Line Commands, CAEs, and the Design Organisation (DO) as required. Review and analyse DO software design changes, presenting them at the Configuration Management Working Group for approval and inclusion in the Type Design Record. Lead the team's response to software-related DASORs and perform monitoring/trending for continuing analysis. Progress software-related MF760s, 765s, Technical Queries, and QORs using RESOLVE. Review and update critical documents, including the Software Acquisition Management Plan, Software Support Plan, and Software Support Case, providing advice to the CE and TAA as needed. Act as a focal point for Trials and Evaluation activities related to software responsibilities. Lead platform Cyber and software Bowtie development, ensuring Equipment Contribution Risk to Life is valid and correctly linked to RESOLVE. Essential Experience/Skills To excel in this role, you must have: A Systems Engineering qualification with experience in aviation (experience in UAS preferred but general aviation acceptable). Strong knowledge of programming languages applicable to aviation coding. Familiarity with the Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) methodology. Willingness to travel within the UK as required. Desired Experience/Skills Previous experience in an Aviation Delivery Team (MOD). Recognized qualifications such as Eng Tech or Incorporated Engineer status.
