We are recruiting for a Quarry Manager to join and lead the fantastic team at a quarry located near Lancaster, Lancashire. The site is located just off the M6 and so well placed to travel to.
Main Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Quarry Manager will assist in the safe running of a busy quarry. As Quarry Manager you will also be responsible for:
1. Managing, coaching and developing a highly skilled team to ensure business continuity and reduce business risk
2. Leading change and continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining disciplined stock management processes and producing operational reports
3. All aspects of budgetary control for all quarrying operations
4. Proactively managing an effective maintenance scheme for the quarry plant and equipment
5. Maintaining and implementing Standard Operating Procedures and risk assessments
6. Managing and overseeing the safe operation of the plant and the planned preventative maintenance of all of the site's equipment fixed and mobile with responsibility for your own safety and that of colleagues and business partners
7. Reporting and investigating any unsafe or hazardous working practices
8. Issuing of safety briefings and toolbox talks to your operational team
9. Managing proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of your staff
10. Collating and reporting monthly performance KPIs and driving operational performance
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of Quarry Manager will possess in-depth experience gained within Quarrying Operations and a good understanding of Quarry Regulations 1999 (Reg 8.1d appointment). Suitable candidates for the role of Quarry Manager will have:
1. Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems
2. Working knowledge of production processes, Health, Safety and Environmental policies
3. SHE NVQ Level 4/QCF Level 6
4. Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (SAP advantageous)
5. Ability to multitask and confidently manage change
6. Good understanding of different methods of winning and extracting raw material
7. Knowledge of techniques employed to load and transport extracted minerals
8. Working knowledge handling raw materials including feeding, crushing, screening, washing, separation, classification and beneficiation techniques
9. IOSH/NEBOSH advantageous
10. Diploma in Quarry Technology/FdSc Extractives Technology advantageous
