HISTOLOGY
x6 Biomedical Scientist posts (Band 5)
Applicants are invited to apply for the above x6 posts.
We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking individuals, with an IBMS accredited Biomedical Science Degree and either professional registration with the Health Care Professions Council or in a position to register for IBMS Competency portfolio on employment.
The applicants must have a flexible approach to work, as they will be required to rotate through all aspects of the service including Histology Laboratories, Immunohistochemistry Laboratories and Western General Hospital Laboratories.
Initially, the successful applicant will be based at Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh but will rotate to the Western General Hospital.
It is desirable that Band 5 annex 21 applicants have commenced their IBMS Registration Training Portfolio whilst working in a Cellular Pathology laboratory. For applicants applying for band 5 annex 21, if successful, will be supported to complete their Registration Training Portfolio. A schedule of in house training will be provided and the portfolio completed within the agreed time scale prior to progression to Band 5, the salary will be paid at annex 21 as per the AfC Terms and Conditions.
Public Holiday cover is required and all staff at band 5 including annex 21 will participate within this rotation, if competent to do so with presence of band 6/ band 6 annex 21 colleagues.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
