Operational Procurement Manager
Band C (£24.86 per hour)
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced procurement professional to join our busy procurement team. In this role, you will manage the day-to-day procurement operations to ensure an effective service is delivered to our stakeholders. The role is office-based (Gosforth Newcastle), though there is potential for hybrid (home/office) working once established into the role.
We provide important services to the NHS and other partners. Working here is varied and interesting, and you can make a positive difference to people’s lives. Our people are at the absolute heart of what we do, and we know from our staff survey that people like working here and appreciate the friendly and supportive teams we have.
We care about our staff and provide great benefits and health and wellbeing support. We strive to be a great and inclusive place to work.
Main Duties of the Job
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will support the development and delivery of the procurement strategy and national procurement agendas. You will provide strategic direction and leadership to the operational procurement team to ensure the function best supports the organisation's goals and objectives. This is a key role working closely with and providing advice to senior managers and directors on strategic or procedural procurement-related matters.
Working for Our Organisation
You will be joining a highly experienced team who will provide the necessary support to help you develop into the role. The department has a comprehensive learning and development plan and will support you with training and mentoring to ensure continuous knowledge and skills development. The option to study towards a professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) is available to all staff who wish to pursue a more formal purchasing career.
As part of our commitment to work-life balance, the department operates a flexible working policy, including a flexi-time system that provides flexibility for employees to adjust working hours to reflect personal circumstances, provided the needs of the service are met.
Procurement plays a hugely important role in the delivery of an effective NHS, and this role offers a great opportunity for you to make a real difference to our staff and patients.
This is both a challenging and rewarding role which will give the successful applicant an opportunity to work as part of a team, engaging with clinical and non-clinical staff, and organisations external to the Trust, to provide a high-quality procurement service.
