We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Goods In Operative to join our team in Chelmsford. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining the smooth operation of our warehouse and ensuring stock is accurately booked in and placed in the correct locations. About the role As a Goods In Operative, you will be responsible for the timely booking in of stock to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring items are correctly stored in their designated bin locations. You will also be involved in managing customer Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs) and Vendor Return Authorizations (VRAs), with some basic product testing required. A strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized goods-in area will be key to your success. Key responsibilities include: Booking in Stock : Accurately record all incoming stock, ensuring it meets the required SLAs. Verify items against delivery documentation and handle discrepancies as necessary. Stock Put-Away: Ensure that all stock is placed in the correct bin locations within the warehouse. Maintain clear and organized storage areas to optimize space and accessibility. Goods-In Area Maintenance: Keep the goods-in area tidy, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations. Customer RMAs & VRAs : Handle customer return requests (RMAs) and vendor return requests (VRAs), including inspecting and performing basic testing of returned items to identify faults or defects. Basic Testing: Conduct simple functionality tests on returned goods, and accurately report findings. Ensure defective items are processed according to company procedures. Collaboration : Work closely with the Warehouse team and other departments to ensure smooth operations and stock accuracy. Ad-Hoc Duties : Assist with any other warehouse-related tasks as required, including inventory checks, stock rotation, and other administrative duties. Skills Required: Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse or stock control role is preferred, but not essential. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, with the ability to accurately book in stock and follow procedures. Basic Testing Skills: Comfortable conducting basic tests on products to assess functionality. Physical Fitness: Ability to handle and lift stock of varying sizes and weights. Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team environment, demonstrating a proactive and flexible attitude Preferred Skills Fork Lift Licence: A forklift licence is preferred but not essential. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
