We have a fabulous opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Physiotherapist to join the mental health physiotherapy team for Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
This post would be suited to a Physiotherapist with a special interest in mental health, or those looking for a new opportunity to use their transferable skills from a different specialty.
Our community teams aim to improve the quality of life of those experiencing a mental health crisis, in relation to their diagnosis of dementia, depression, anxiety or other mental health problem. We aim to support rehabilitation of both mental and physical health.
We are a team made up of experienced Physiotherapists and assistants who work closely with various MDTs, such as Nurses, Specialist Support Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, and Psychiatrists. We promote non-pharmacological interventions wherever possible and have a holistic approach to patient care. This is an ideal environment for an innovative Physiotherapist to utilize their therapy-based assessment and care planning skills.
Work will involve seeing people on wards but also in their own homes. There will be a focus on promoting independence and also supporting carers.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will:
* Effectively prioritize their workload and respond to competing demands on their time.
* Have excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with patients, carers, and all levels of staff, dealing with calls promptly and sensitively, ensuring that urgent care is provided appropriately.
* Assess patients who present with complex and severe cognitive impairment to develop an effective treatment program.
* Provide specialist advice to other professionals, patients, and carers as appropriate.
* Take an active role in the multi-disciplinary team, attending MDT meetings and offering physiotherapy input.
* Regularly link in with the wider Physiotherapy team within the Trust for clinical supervision and further professional development.
* Use the Electronic Patient Record to document involvement with patients.
* Be a qualified physiotherapist with recent and relevant post-qualification experience.
* Be able to travel between bases.
