Role overview
As a Planner, you will be responsible for creating and managing comprehensive construction project schedules, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring timely project delivery. Your role is key in streamlining planning processes, enhancing coordination, and contributing to the overall efficiency of construction projects. You will be involved in meticulous scheduling and strategic coordination to facilitate successful project outcomes.
You will work independently or as part of the planning team, ensuring that the programme content adheres to planning procedures and guidance. You will be involved in developing, agreeing, and documenting planning deliverables, including programs, planning philosophies, and reports, while ensuring compliance with tender requirements. Additionally, you will support the production, management, and maintenance of the Contract Programme during the contract stage, in line with planning procedures.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and document planning deliverables such as programs, planning philosophies, reports, and presentations.
* Collaborate to establish a logical sequence and methodology, ensuring that the most efficient design, procurement, and construction strategy is adopted.
* Produce and manage the Contract Programme during the contract stage, ensuring compliance with planning procedures.
* Evaluate the project critical path and advise the project team on results and necessary corrective actions.
* Maintain project baselines and execute the change control process as required.
* Manage the efficient allocation of labour, equipment, and materials to meet project objectives, minimizing costs and delays.
* Monitor contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, resolving performance issues and maintaining effective relationships.
* Aid in producing project data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, identify deviations, and enable data-driven decisions for project improvement.
Key Skills / Experience Required:
* Analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in project management tools and software such as Excel, MS Project, Primavera P6, or ASTA.
* Strong understanding of construction methodology, processes, and requirements to facilitate effective planning.
* Knowledge of project scheduling, including the ability to create, manage, and optimize project schedules using industry-standard tools.
* Familiarity with various forms of tender and contract documents and specifications.
* Understanding of project management methodologies.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships with project stakeholders.
* Previous experience planning and managing construction projects from initiation to completion using project planning software.
* Time management and negotiation skills
