We are seeking a dedicated Creative Workshop Instructor to lead our innovative rehabilitation program within a dynamic prison environment. The Haven Workshop provides meaningful employment and development opportunities for prisoners who may be retired, neurodivergent, have mental health challenges, or physical mobility issues.
Through creative pursuits like upcycling furniture, crafting handmade products, and sewing clothing for charity, this workshop fosters a safe, inclusive, and productive space that empowers participants with new skills and a sense of purpose.
About You:
We’re looking for someone with:
* Experience in crafting, upcycling, or production work, especially in a supervisory, leadership or instructional role.
* Strong organisational skills to manage workshop schedules, stock, and reporting effectively.
* A compassionate, patient, and inclusive approach to supporting individuals with diverse needs.
* Awareness of health, safety, and security protocols, preferably in a custodial or structured environment.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Provide hands-on training in crafting, upcycling, and production techniques while adapting methods to meet individual learning needs.
* Supervise, mentor, and support a team of up to 18 prisoners, encouraging growth and rehabilitative progress.
* Set targets, maintain high standards, and ensure the quality of all products meets expectations.
* Manage tools and materials securely, following strict safety and security protocols.
* Work with Work & Skills Coaches to build employability skills and contribute to rehabilitation outcomes.
* Handle attendance tracking, wages, and inventory to keep the workshop running efficiently.
Working Hours:
38.5 working hours per week, scheduled from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with Tuesday afternoons off.
