Role Overview:
We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their Oxford team and step up into a more senior role. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual with 3+ years of experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, ready to take on full responsibility for managing projects commercially. You will be running your own projects, taking ownership of cost control, and ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of works from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the commercial aspects of projects ranging from £5M to £25M, including new builds and refurbishments
* Take full responsibility for cost management, from estimating and tendering to final accounts
* Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring all financial targets are met
* Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure the best possible terms and prices
* Conduct site visits and attend project meetings to ensure progress and cost control
* Prepare and manage valuations, variations, and applications for payments
* Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions, health and safety regulations, and company procedures
* Work closely with project managers and the senior team to ensure the successful delivery of projects
* Provide accurate and timely reporting on project costs, risks, and forecasts
Key Requirements:
* 3+ years’ experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, with a desire to take on more responsibility
* Experience working on new build and refurbishment projects (projects in the £5M to £25M range is a bonus)
* Strong understanding of the construction process and cost management
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Ability to work autonomously and manage your own projects commercially
* A proactive approach, with the ambition to grow and develop within the business
* Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) are advantageous
