My client is an established Medical Device Company based in Livingston.The business is ISO 13485 accredited and has contributed to global healthcare for 25+ years, now forming part of a leading global group in optical and optoelectronics industries. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the team and provide crucial medical devices to patients globally.
The business manufactures hyaluronic acid injectables to be used in ophthalmic & orthopaedic medical procedures. They have a large production facility which houses R&D plus their commercial-scale manufacturing processes.
The business has recently experienced a period of expansion and is positioning itself for further growth. The Health and Safety Officer will work to develop, implement and improve health and safety across the site. That includes ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, legislation and policies.
No prior medical device or pharmaceutical experience is required. However, experience with pharmaceutical, medical devices, chemicals, lab sciences or manufacturing is highly desirable.
Key aspects of the role
* Provide a compliant and pragmatic solution to the renewal of COSSH and Risk Assessments across the site
* Support and contribute to Risk Assessments for all relevant site projects
* Ensure Health and safety compliance with all relevant legislation
* Drive a health and safety culture by reinforcing and conducting regular audits on processes, supplies and employee behaviour
Applicant requirements
* NEBOSH Certificate with preference given to candidates holding a NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent qualification
* The candidate will be able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of essential Health and Safety legislation
* Prior knowledge and experience of chemical handling within a manufacturing and laboratory setting would be advantageous
* Experience of Health and safety within a manufacturing environment and Health and safety contractor management desirable
* BSc or BEng is advantageous but not essential.
