We are looking for an experienced and talented Sexual Health Nurse to join our Sexual Health Hub covering Cheshire West and Chester The Sexual Health Hub provides free and confidential sexual health services in the Cheshire West and Chester locality. Our services provide free information and advice on all types of contraception, STI testing and treatment and also HIV clinical care. We are a “Level 3” integrated contraception and sexual health (ICASH) service, combining the medical specialties of Genitourinary Medicine (GUM) and Community Sexual and Reproductive Health (cSRH). We are looking for a Sexual Health Nurse to join us in providing our service to the local population of Chester and West Chester. This role will involve travel across Chester and West Chester to cover our community clinics meaning a driving license and access to a car is an essential criteria of this role. You will work as an autonomous practitioner taking responsibility for day to day management of clinics and ensuring a timely, quality service is delivered. You will work collaboratively with colleagues and commissioners to develop services in line with commissioning and objectives. You will be covering the following clinic types: Contraception Sexual Health Cervical Screening HIV Vasectomy PrEP This is a bank position based at our Hub in Chester City Centre. You will ideally be a Registered General Nurse or Midwife who has ideally complete their sexual health diploma or have practice nurse experience. As a Sexual Health Nurse you will: Work autonomously to manage your own caseload of patients whilst working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Issue methods of contraception and treatments for sexually transmitted infections according to Patient Group Directions & clinical protocols Insert and remove contraceptive implants and remove intrauterine devices (Fitting IUS/IUDs is desirable but not essential) Provide STI/HIV screening and treatment according to Patient Group Directions & clinical protocols Liaise with clients with positive results to enable a management plan of care for the client and partners. Provide advice and cytology screening as appropriate Enable patient choice and involvement and initiate appropriate action. Co-ordinate patient care pathway and liaise across organisational boundaries. Plan specialised programmes of care and provide specialised advice to patients, partners, carers and family. Ensure each patient is placed in the correct treatment pathway Provides clinical advice and support to healthcare professionals Provides clinical advice in accordance with current evidence-based practice. Ensure patients, partners, carers, and family, are given appropriate oral and written information regarding planned care. Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all relevant information is documented in the patient's medical and nursing records. For a full list of responsibilities please see attached job description The Ideal CandidateOur ideal candidate will: Be Registered Nurse or Midwife with live NMC Registration Experience in a sexual health setting Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Be motivated and enthusiastic with excellent interpersonal skills Have an Integrated contraception /sexual health qualification, or working towards same Have Sub-dermal contraceptive implant fitter or working towards same Have Cytology training and competent to perform cervical cytology or working towards or wanting to work towards A driving license and access to a car are an essential criteria.
