Overview and Responsibilities
Welcome to Aurora Foxes, a specialist college and training hotel for young people with learning disabilities, situated in the friendly seaside town of Minehead. Foxes is a very special place.
We believe in changing lives and giving our students the skills, knowledge, and confidence to successfully shape their own future. Our aim is to equip our young adults with the life and hospitality skills to become work ready, life ready.
The main purpose of the role:
As a Bank Functional Life Skills Tutor, you will deliver and evaluate inspiring, engaging, and individualised sessions of the highest quality that challenge and stretch every student in all areas of their Functional Skills. You will also complete session plans for upcoming sessions as appropriate.
All tutors are expected to support students professionally, effectively, and sensitively in their learning.
Key duties include:
1. Deliver professional, inspiring, and engaging sessions that challenge and motivate students throughout.
2. Provide professional, timely, and effective feedback with strategies for improvement, recording this effectively.
3. Prepare, direct, and lead Learning Support Practitioners within your sessions, promoting a professional attitude and approach.
4. Familiarity with, and active use of, RARPA principles and City and Guilds assessments in maths, English, and ICT.
5. Ensure all Risk Assessments are read, understood, and used to maintain high standards of welfare, health, and safety.

Skills and Qualifications:
* Level 2 in English & Maths
* Level 5 Diploma in Education or higher
* Experience teaching maths, English, and ICT
* Experience working in a team setting
* Desirable: experience working with young vulnerable adults or children
* Knowledge of assessing skills using RARPA and/or accredited qualifications
* Understanding of Preparing for Adulthood
