Business Continuity and Resilience Risk Manager
About the role
Managing risk is integral to our business and helps ensure sustainable growth and that our customers get great outcomes. The UK Risk Office supports and drives a wide range of activity in the UK Business.
In order to pursue our strategic objectives we need sound risk management and in the Risk Office we lead the way in advising our business partners on how to understand their risks and act accordingly. As a Risk Manager, you will be at the helm of this, driving the thinking of what we do and ensuring this is implemented effectively.
Business Continuity and Resilience are vital parts of our UK Risk Office. We work with teams and senior leaders across the UK and US to ensure we are set-up for success, in a strong position to support our business and customers should anything unexpected happen.
Our BCM team ensures we understand and manage our continuity risk and is truly an enabler for the UK business. And now, we are looking for a Business Continuity and Operational Resilience Risk Manager to lead that Business Continuity team on a 15-month secondment opportunity, and that is where you come in.
What you'll do:
Business Continuity and Operational Resilience are critical to our business and ensuring we understand, evolve and implement this is fundamental. Along with that, we embed thinking on Operational Resiliency into our day-to-day practices, and these will be a fundamental part of your role.
Working with all areas of our UK business while being the key connection point with our US counterparts you will:
1. Lead our UK Business Continuity team, organising and driving their day-to-day activities.
2. Continuously review, evolve and analyse the results of assessments and tests to identify relevant risks and issues, then make recommendations to accept or mitigate.
3. Drive understanding of and engagement with Business Continuity across our business and at all levels.
4. Identify and drive process improvements using your knowledge of best industry practices, and your own concepts.
5. Partner with technology teams and third parties teams to design and implement appropriate business continuity plans, along with any exit plan testing.
6. Partner with our Security and Leadership teams to ensure we are well prepared to support our business, associates and customers should the unexpected happen.
7. Be involved in delivering strong regulatory compliance to Operation Resilience, and help use that to drive resilience value across the business.
8. Work the business to train, embed and support business continuity practices.
What we're looking for:
We hire individuals, not box tickers, and we want people that will really understand and lead the way in how we think about Risk, especially in the context of Business Continuity and Operational Resilience.
You will need the ability to influence and drive change, deeply understand our business and continually want to learn and develop. An analytical mindset that can break down and solve complex problems and turn them into optimal solutions is critical. Other skills and competencies we are looking for include:
1. Experience in successfully running business continuity programs, including disaster recovery and related and necessary testing.
2. Knowledge of Operational Resilience regulations and embedding them in business processes.
3. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to work with people at all levels of an organisation.
4. People Leadership experience with an ability to grow and develop a team.
Where and how you'll work:
This is a permanent position based in our Nottingham offices.
We have a hybrid working model which gives you flexibility to work from our offices and from home.
We're big on collaboration and connection, so you'll be based in our Nottingham office 3 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Many of our associates have flexible working arrangements, and we're open to talking about an arrangement that works for you.
What's in it for you:
1. Bring us all this - and you'll be well rewarded with a role contributing to the roadmap of an organisation committed to transformation.
2. We offer high performers strong and diverse career progression, investing heavily in developing great people through our Capital One University training programmes (and appropriate external providers).
3. Immediate access to our core benefits including pension scheme, bonus, generous holiday entitlement and private medical insurance - with flexible benefits available including season-ticket loans, cycle to work scheme and enhanced parental leave.

What you should know about how we recruit:

We want to work with top talent: whoever you are, whatever you look like, wherever you come from. We know it's about what you do, not just what you say. That's why we make our recruitment process fair and accessible. And we offer benefits that attract people at all ages and stages.
