Hybrid working arrangement The Rent and Service Charges Manager has overall accountability for preparing, developing, and managing all aspects of rents and service charges. The role is vital in ensuring that my client are operating within industry standards and providing transparency and accuracy around charges.The duties of the Rent and Service Charges Manager include the following: Responsibility for calculating and providing annual rent and service charge estimates to residents within required timescales. Responsible for the annual reconciliation of actuals versus budget and communication to residents and application to accounts within required timescales. Ensuring actual service charge data is reviewed and reconciled on a regular basis. Ensuring that sinking and reserve funds are managed correctly and providing transparency to residents and leaseholders. Line management of Finance Assistant, ensuring that rental income is allocated accurately and in a timely manner. Keeping up to date with rent and service charge legislation to ensure efficient recovery of costs and ensuring that residents receiving best possible service in line with industry standards and regulations. Advising on service charges for new developments as they are added to the property portfolio. Ensuring that residents queries are dealt with within organisations timescales and in a professional clear way to ensure customer satisfaction. Build strong and positive relationships with staff within the organisation and provide them with the necessary assistance and professional advice to assist them with the financial aspects of their duties. Prepare and post journals to correct general ledger entries within service charge codes and look at way to improve coding and processes going forward. Oversee rent accounting within the organisation to ensure rent debits posted regularly and income coded accurately and in a timely manner. Lead, develop and manage the rent review process Liaison with auditors as and when required. Raise awareness of rent and service charges within the organisation. Review accounting processes and practices and improve where necessary to ensure efficient financial operations. Responsibility for some monthly reconciliations and Balance Sheet accounts. Person Specification- Essential: 3 years’ experience of rent and service charges. Advanced excel skills and experience of Finance and Housing systems. Ability to analyse large volumes of data and to improve data collection and processes. Ability to meet deadlines and work independently. Exceptional interpersonal skills and able to successfully communicate and influence with people at all levels, both financial and non-financial.
