Salary: £40,305 - £50,589 per year.
Hours: 28 hours per week.
Hamilton School for the Deaf educates and supports deaf children and young people aged 0-18 across South Lanarkshire Council. It is a specialist provision, consisting of specialist Nursery and Primary Departments for pupils who require a high level of support to develop language and communication skills. A Total Communication approach is used at all times with British Sign Language as our manual mode of communication.
We are seeking a temporary Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People to cover a Maternity post starting in March 2025. The post will be situated within our Primary department. The Teacher will be a highly skilled communicator with a minimum Level 2 BSL qualification and who is committed to delivering the very best experiences for our deaf children and young people.

The Successful Applicants Will
* hold an appropriate teaching qualification
* be fully registered with the General Teaching Council, Scotland (GTCS)
* be able to demonstrate that they possess the commitment, knowledge and skills outlined in the Standard for Full Registration
* be skilled in British Sign Language and/or have a willingness to learn British Sign Language to a minimum of Level 2.
Successful applicants who progress to the next stage of the recruitment process will be invited to attend classroom observation and a short list interview.
If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.
