The Lead Geotechnical Engineer is a critical role within the Offshore Renewables Business, focusing on the delivery of large-scale offshore wind projects.
The Lead Geotechnical Engineer role sits in the Ground Engineering Team within the Site Engineering Department and reports to the Ground Engineering Discipline Manager.
The successful candidate will initially be the Ground Engineering Lead (GEL) during the pre-FID and construction phase for our East Anglia One North UK offshore wind farm. This will be the main focus of the role; however, as this project moves to completion, the role will be the GEL and/or Lead Geotechnical Engineer on all stages of an offshore wind farm development.
What you’ll be doing:
* Having overall responsibility on the project for managing ground engineering risks and activities.
* Lead in defining scopes of work and tendering site investigations campaigns, ensuring project requirements and standards are met.
* Minimising the ground risk as low as reasonably practicable ensuring a balance between ground risk, CAPEX and packages requirements/expectations.
* Lead and manage multi-million offshore site investigations to time, programme and budget.
* Lead project ground engineering activities supported by the Owner’s Engineer to continually identify, monitor and manage ground engineering risks.
* Identify where consultancy support is required to manage ground risk. Lead in defining scopes of work, tendering and managing ground engineering consultancy packages.
* Support and advise the relevant packages during foundation and cable design and installation to ensure ground risk is appropriately managed.
* Identify and communicate ground risk to key stakeholders.
* Ensure the project surveys meet the consent, design and installation requirements of the project packages through continued stakeholder engagement and management.
* Lead Ground Engineering components of the certification process in collaboration with relevant packages.
* Ensure Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) is met.
What you’ll bring:
* Education to Degree level in relevant engineering discipline.
* Chartered status with a relevant institution.
* Significant knowledge and experience of leading geotechnical design and ground engineering installation activities for an offshore wind farm.
* Excellent capability and experience in project management, commercial, legal and financial processes.
* Comprehensive knowledge of offshore procedures, standards and guidelines.
* Ability to communicate effectively and influence decision making with a diverse team.
* Excellent document writing skills in English.
* IT literate with the ability to effectively operate MS Office systems.
