Job Title: IT Database Administrator
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Edinburgh or Alderley Wilmslow
Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an IT Database Administrator. As an IT Database Administrator (DBA) you will be responsible for managing, configuring, and maintaining the SQL Server environment.
You will help support the business areas on their database requirements, working on requests and incidents, as well as liaising with Project Managers and Customers to provide technical support and guidance for projects.
To be successful in this role, you must have a strong background in database administration, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well under pressure. You should also have a solid understanding of database management systems and be familiar with SQL and other programming languages like Microsoft Azure.
About the role
* You will configure, manage, and maintain SQL Server environments.
* Monitor system health and performance to ensure high levels of performance and availability.
* Support Disaster Recovery tests and develop procedures to ensure recovery in the event of a disaster.
* Collaborate with other teams on project activities.
* Support the business on incidents and request resolutions for the SQL Server environment.
About you
* Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
* Experience with database backup and restore procedures.
* Good understanding of Microsoft Server platforms.
* Experience designing technical solutions fit for purpose.
* Problem-solving skills to identify root causes and offer solutions.
* Ability to prioritize work to meet business requests and project demands on time.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong experience working within a team environment and independently.
* Willingness to work out of business hours and on-call when required.
* Knowledge of other operating systems or databases is an advantage.
* Experience with Microsoft Azure.
* Experience with SolarWinds and Service Now.
