Spares Tendering & Contracts Administrator
British Engines Group company, Michell Bearings, designs and manufactures hydrodynamic bearings for the marine, defence and industrial sectors.
Michell Bearings revolutionised ship building and sea transportation with the invention of the tilting pad bearing over 100 years ago and operates from sites in South Shields (UK), and Bangalore (India), with offices in the USA and Germany.
As a Spares Tendering and Contracts Administrator, you will work alongside your team supporting and advising key stakeholders.
What you'll be doing
1. Establish lines of communication directly with customers or via commercial advisors to clarify requirements.
2. Calculate the estimated works cost based upon price list / estimate / previous cost performance or comparative estimation.
3. Apply established rules for the pricing associated with spares tenders.
4. Liaise with the sales team in order to determine the price to be quoted on those occasions where the established rules cannot be applied.
5. Seek the appropriate approval to quote when the tender value exceeds the limits of authority.
6. Create sales quotations within the ERP system.
7. Maintain the integrity of the information within the ERP system.
8. Review the terms and conditions of contracts where these are dictated by the customer, with the assistance of other members of the bid and sales teams as required.
9. Convert sales quotations to customer orders within the ERP system, performing contract reviews, allocating contract requirements and acknowledging customer orders.
10. Monitor customer orders during the life of the contract and liaise with the customer on any contract amendments / costs / implications and appraising of progress as required by the contract.
Who we’re looking for
To apply, we ask that you hold a recognised mechanical qualification (ONC or above) or have the ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings and specifications.
Good written and verbal communication skills are a must as is proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
We ask that you have an appreciation of rotating machinery applications within industrial and marine markets. Knowledge of export licence control and commercial terms and conditions of business would also be advantageous.
We also ask that you have a flexible attitude with excellent problem-solving skills, as well as a high standard of numeracy. You must demonstrate a positive, innovative and motivated approach to your work combined with an ability to work under pressure and within time constraints.
This position will be on a full-time, permanent basis - working hours will be 37 per week.
Employment is subject to a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.
