Atomic is delighted to be partnering with a boutique Firm, based in North London, looking to recruit a Tax Manager to join their team. With over 70 years' experience, the firm is well placed to assist with all accounting assignments from simple tax returns to multi-national corporation audits.
Responsibilities:
They are seeking a Tax Manager who is preferably CTA qualified to join their tax team. You will work with a diverse portfolio of clients, providing high-quality tax advice, ensuring compliance, and managing a range of tax-related projects. You will be a key player in the team, overseeing the preparation of personal self-assessment returns and reporting, advising clients on tax strategies, and supporting the leadership team in managing client relationships. Responsibilities include:
1. Manage a client portfolio for self-assessment.
2. Oversee the timely and accurate submission of ATED and P11D returns.
3. Assist audit and accounts staff on preparation of complex Corporation Tax returns.
4. Assist bookkeeping team with complex VAT queries.
5. Provide high-level tax advice to a range of clients, including corporate, SME, and individual clients.
6. Advise on corporate restructuring, tax-efficient structuring, and inheritance tax planning.
7. Develop tax-efficient strategies for clients, ensuring their tax affairs are managed proactively and with foresight.
8. Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with clients, becoming their first point of contact for tax-related queries and concerns.
9. Manage the day-to-day relationship with clients, identifying opportunities for additional services and offering advice to support their business objectives.
10. Attend client meetings to discuss tax planning, compliance, and strategy.
11. Supervise and mentor junior tax staff and trainees, providing guidance on technical matters, managing workloads, and supporting their development.
12. Review the work of junior staff, providing constructive feedback and ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy.
13. Stay up-to-date with developments in tax legislation and ensure the firm's clients benefit from the latest tax planning opportunities.
14. Develop and deliver internal training to colleagues on key tax issues, ensuring the wider team's knowledge remains current.
Requirements:
1. At least 5 years of experience working in a tax practice or accounting firm, with a solid background in both compliance and advisory work.
2. Experience in managing a portfolio of clients and providing high-quality tax advisory services.
3. Experience in managing junior team members and training staff.
4. Experience in Corporation Tax and VAT preferable.
5. Excellent technical knowledge of UK tax law.
6. Experience with tax compliance software and general accounting systems.
7. Strong understanding of tax planning, corporate finance, and business strategy.
8. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex tax matters in an accessible way.
9. Proactive, solution-oriented approach with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
10. Strong client-facing skills with a focus on building long-term relationships.
11. Ability to lead and mentor a team, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
