EFAB Industrial Solutions, a leading Engineering Construction business based in Immingham, is looking to appoint an experienced and qualified Lead HSE Advisor on a permanent basis. This important critical role will be based out of and cover our Head Office Immingham facility and our UK-based project sites.
Main Accountabilities & Competencies Of The Lead HSE Advisor
Accountabilities
1. To be actively involved in the continuous improvement of the Company Health Safety and Environmental Management System.
2. To facilitate audits and inspections from third parties, including those associated with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 accreditation.
3. Assist the business with resource planning for HS&E activities.
4. To monitor compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental legislation, codes of practice and approved safe working methods and encourage employee participation through safety suggestions, safety meeting feedback and safety incentives.
5. To audit work areas, premises, processes, and activities, reporting deficiencies for action and monitor follow-up actions, including suppliers.
6. To collate relevant information and statistics on HSE performance and to present the information in a format of a formal report to the business.
7. To maintain and implement an effective process of structured internal audit of activities against the Company Management Systems.
8. Assist the Business Development and Proposals Team with information applicable to Health, Safety and Environmental.
Competencies Of The Lead HSE Advisor
1. Able to provide advice and guidance on safe working practices and current Health and Safety legislation, confidently report accidents and incidents as required under RIDDOR regulations.
2. Proactively ensures all Health and Safety documentation is fully compliant with current legislation and can advise and support Site Managers in the production of a HSE plan.
3. Manages the Company's obligations under the CDM Regulations and can confidently conduct site Drug and Alcohol tests when required.
4. Proactively prepares COSHH assessments for all substances and chemicals used by the business.
5. Able to conduct thorough site safety inspections and risk assessments and extensively use analytical skills to produce Company Health and Safety statistics.
6. Responds to incidents in a timely manner and can conduct a thorough investigation process if required.
7. Uses root cause analysis techniques and identifies corrective actions.
8. Assesses the capabilities and monitors the safety performance of suppliers.
9. Able to manage and audit ISO45001 processes and implementation of Company HS&E procedures.
10. Can identify the requirements for and co-ordinate relevant Health and Safety training.
11. Reports occupational Health and Safety issues to senior management and is competent with challenging unsafe behaviour/attitudes.
12. Develops, reviews and updates safety action plans.
Commercial & Risk
1. Inform project manager / line manager of potential risks identified in a timely manner.
2. Demonstrate clear understanding of relevant commercial and budgetary landscape.
3. Function as an ambassador for the Company, always presenting the right image to existing and potential clients.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
1. Working within the Company's ISO9001:2008 quality systems.
2. Responsible for own safety at work and for consideration to be given to others in the working environment.
3. Adhere to Company and Client Health and Safety procedures.
4. Zero non-conformances to all Company, client and project-specific quality and safety plans.
Technical Requirements
1. Keep up to date with latest industry and functional standards, technology, and norms.
2. A good understanding of the availability and use of all relevant electronic tools and software.
Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications Of The Lead HSE Advisor
1. Must hold NEBOSH General Certificate and be educated to a minimum of NVQ Level 5.
2. Build effective working relationships at all levels and communicate skills, knowledge, and experience professionally.
3. Full clean driving licence with some UK travel and occasional flexible working required.
