We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Care Assistant to support the Registered Nurses on our Children's ward and Paediatric Assessment Unit.
You will possess excellent communication skills, a willingness to learn both clinical and clerical duties to provide the necessary support for nursing and medical colleagues to the highest standards of care.
The role is focused on delivering high quality care whilst ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for the patient and their family.
You will be supported by a Senior Ward Sister, Clinical Matron and Head of Nursing for your development.
This vacancy is linked to a level 2 apprenticeship. This will support you to gain relevant knowledge, skills and experience that will help you achieve your potential in this role. Working alongside the Trust’s experienced staff you will be supported to gain the apprenticeship qualification and functional skills in maths and English if required. This is a great opportunity to gain a national recognised qualification while you are working and earning, which will support you in both this role and in your future career at Frimley Health.
You will not be required to undertake an apprenticeship if you have previously completed a relevant apprenticeship, NVQ or similar qualification.
PURPOSE OF JOB:
• To provide supervised clinical and administrative support to the nursing and medical staff who will be providing high standards of patient care.
• To contribute towards the effective running of the department by performing a range of clinical and administration tasks.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To ensure that all patients and other members of the public and staff are treated in a polite and considerate manner and receive prompt attention when required.
• To ensure that any telephone messages or enquiries are conveyed and dealt with in a timely and clear manner.
• To fulfill administration duties as required.
• To ensure that all assigned duties both clinical and non clinical are carried out efficiently and effectively.
• To use the various hospital IT systems in order to assist the nursing and medical staff.
• To act as a chaperone, and assist the nursing and medical staff with any investigations or procedures.
• At all times to be aware of the limits of your own levels of competence and at no time attempt tasks above and beyond their abilities and to work within the limits set by departmental policies.
• To comply with Trust Infection Control Policies at all times.
• To be aware of hospital policy regarding patient confidentiality and to respect patient’s rights and dignity at all times.
• To actively adhere to hospital policy regarding incident reporting.
• To be aware of the complaints procedure.
• To be cost effective in the use of equipment and resources, to ensure equipment is in good working order, stored correctly and ready for immediate use.
• Maintain accurate, up to date records of all contact with patients and their carers.
