Research Assistant in Plant Bioactive Compound Research
Are you enthusiastic, well-organised and versatile, with a strong interest in research? Do you have a background in plant bioactive research with experience in bioactive analysis? Are you interested in working with a collaborative research team and want to use your skills and experience to develop research approaches for translation of bioactive-based concepts into real-world applications?
We are looking for a researcher to join our research team to investigate the benefits of plant bioactive compounds on animal productivity in a collaborative project with academic and industrial partners. The project is addressing the huge wastage of plant crops that occurs during their processing, through the development of innovative and sustainable valorisation strategies that convert agri-food waste streams into next-generation feed additives to increase animal health and productivity.
In particular, you will focus on the extraction and analysis of phytochemicals from differently processed raw materials and encapsulated formulations, using a range of methodologies, to evaluate their potential for application as feed ingredients.
You will have an undergraduate or master's degree in Food Science and Nutrition, Food Science and Technology, or a closely allied discipline, and a strong background in experimental plant bioactive research with good analytical skills, e.g. chromatography, spectroscopy, and bioactivity screening methods. You will be a good organiser, a team player, be highly motivated and able to communicate effectively with other members of the research team.
