I’m delighted to be supporting my client, a successful global logistics firm, with their search for a Senior Commercial Manager.
As the Senior Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for creating, growing, and managing an account base in the UK Energy sector, accountable to directly identify and initiate growth opportunities in the sector.
The role will have an 80% commercial and 20% operational focus, and an in-depth understanding of the logistics sector is essential.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Develop new business in the UK energy market
2. Identify, initiate, and engage with clients that provide sustained and profitable revenue streams
3. Develop and execute a business plan that will achieve sales quota and budget as defined by the company
4. Work closely with local, regional, and international operations staff to ensure customers’ needs and expectations are met
5. Present an array of logistics solutions that enable numerous entry points into accounts
6. Support and consult existing customers as well as further development of accounts
7. Conduct sales and contract negotiation meetings
8. Prepare commercial documentation including bids, tenders, and pricing
9. Plan, organize, and execute customer visits
10. Implement regular review meetings
11. Ensure communication between Sales/Customer Service, Operations, and Management
The ideal candidate:
1. Proven track record of leading growth in the UK freight/logistics/energy sector
2. 5-10 years commercial experience in the freight/logistics industry
3. Track record of developing high value/global key accounts
4. Competitive and confident personality with strongly developed persuasive and negotiation skills
5. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think and respond quickly to sales and service issues
6. Demonstrates considerable judgment in selecting methods
7. Self-motivated individual experienced in making and implementing decisions
8. Strong presentation skills and effective follow-up skills
9. Strong customer service orientation
10. Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to change
