Learning Resource Centre Assistant Hull Working Hours: 18.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year Salary: £23,034 FTE (Actual Salary £11,517 per annum) Annual Leave: 145 hours per annum As our Learning Resource Centre Assistant, you will be responsible for providing administrative support, exceptional customer service, and proactive assistance to users within the ELEVATE digital, research, and study hub. This role aims to ensure the smooth functioning of library operations, manage behaviour within the spaces, and support users in optimising their work and utilising the available facilities effectively. The post holder will work in partnership with the Executive Director of Digital Transformation to promote digital ways of learning and transform Hull College into a nationally and internationally recognised centre of digital excellence. Responsibilities of our Learning Resource Centre Assistant : Perform library administrative tasks such as circulation, cataloguing, and maintaining accurate records. Organise and ensure the availability of library materials and digital resources within the ELEVATE areas. Support the implementation and utilisation of new library systems. Provide friendly and professional customer service, assisting users in accessing resources and navigating the library space. Offer guidance and support to users in maximising the use of ELEVATE facilities and digital resources. Actively promote digital resources to ensure all resources are accessible to all. Assist users in sourcing relevant materials for their research and study needs. Answer enquiries, resolve issues, and provide technical support related to library equipment and online resources. Conduct library orientations and information literacy instruction to help users develop effective research skills. Monitor and manage behaviour within the ELEVATE spaces, enforcing library policies and addressing disruptive behaviour promptly. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in Elevate, including shelving and tidying up materials. Collaborate with the Library Manager and curriculum staff to promote library services and resources. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities. Collaborate with academic departments and faculty to support the integration of library resources into the curriculum. Stay updated with current trends and developments in library science and information technology through external professional development opportunities, such as attending conferences, workshops, and webinars. What we’re looking for in our Learning Resource Centre Assistant : Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy Qualifications Recognised IT Qualifications Previous experience in a Library or Customer Service environment Familiarity with essential library functions and a commitment to developing a good knowledge of our online resources Proficiency in using technology, including library software, databases, and Microsoft Office suite.
