Critical Aspects of the role Engineering agility: Application of engineering knowledge, principles and critical thinking to lead the creation of technical solutions to safety critical engineering challenges. Evaluating and making technical decisions in complex situations. Specialist knowledge: Experience in the design, manufacture and installation of lifting equipment, cranes, lifts, bespoke moving structures and novel handling equipment. Familiar with design for high integrity applications and environments. Focus on delivery: Deliver engineering projects and products to cost and time, achieving best-for-business outcomes without compromising safety. Ability to identify technical issues and risks, working collaboratively to identify and implement solutions. Safety, compliance and quality assurance: Embeds integrity and quality throughout the product Lifecyle. Qualifications & Skills Degree qualified in a relevant subject or strongly demonstrable equivalent career experience, a Chartered Engineer with an appropriate professional body or demonstrable capability to achieve this status. Undertaking and guiding others in conducting engineering calculations, analysis and detail design for mechanical systems including, structural elements, machinery, drive and actuation systems. In-depth knowledge and experience applying industry standards, regulations, and best practice. Experience operating in a compliance orientated technical and project management environment. Excellent problem evaluation and solving skills. An effective communicator with demonstrable stakeholder management skills. Apply engineering principles combined with a deep level of engineering knowledge and experience. Undertake, inform and direct, calculations, analysis, detail design, safety argument development, test and assurance activity. Apply knowledge of standards and codes to the design for manufacture, assembly, installation and maintenance of the mechanical system aspects of lifting and handling machinery. Ensure and underwrites the application of policies, processes, procedures, and ways of working. Evaluate and define requirements and lead their definition, verification and validation across all engineering disciplines. Oversee engineering governance of outputs in accordance with the Engineering Governance Policy. Manage, mitigate and report on technical risks and compliance adherence. Leading, coaching and mentoring others to achieve delivery of engineering outputs, project outcomes and professional development.
