We are currently looking for a dedicated Support Worker to support a lovely young lady in her early 30s who has cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, and is a non-verbal, wheelchair user. This lady requires familiar and consistent care, and we are looking for someone who is kind, patient, and committed to following her care plan to ensure her comfort and well-being. Role Overview This role will primarily involve supporting this young lady to live a healthy, happy, and fulfilling life. She enjoys spending hours outdoors, being pushed in her wheelchair, and taking in the fresh air, so a love for being outside (regardless of the weather) is a must As her Support Worker, you will need to provide both physical and emotional support, following her care plan strictly to ensure she remains comfortable and free from pain. This includes supporting her with day-to-day activities, administering medication, and ensuring her home is clean, safe, and accessible. Key Responsibilities: Following Care Plans: It is essential that her care plan, which includes strict guidelines around food intolerance and physical care, is followed to prevent unnecessary pain or discomfort. Supporting Day-to-Day Activities: Help with tasks such as meal preparation, personal care, and managing daily routines. Promoting Independence and Wellbeing: Support the young lady in achieving as much independence as possible while providing care that respects her individuality. Accessing the Community: Assist her in going outdoors and accessing the local community, including trips in her wheelchair to local parks, shopping, and other activities. Administering Medication: Ensure medication is administered as prescribed, following the care plan accurately. Maintaining a Clean and Accessible Home: Assist in keeping her home clean, tidy, and well-organised to ensure a safe environment. Building Healthy Relationships: Encourage positive and meaningful interactions, both with family members and the wider community. Supporting Outside of the Home Setting: You may be required to accompany her to hospital appointments, on holidays, or for other outings. Additional Support Tasks: Assist with any other tasks as required to ensure her health, safety, and happiness. Working Hours: Days: 10am – 7pm, Sleep-in shifts: Available at a set rate. Additional Work: Opportunity to pick up extra shifts in other local services should you wish to do so. Desired Skills and Qualifications: Compassion and Patience: A genuine passion for providing care and support to individuals with complex needs. Experience in Health and Social Care: Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities, particularly physical disabilities and non-verbal communication, is desirable. Good Communication Skills: Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills to interact effectively with the young lady and her family. Flexibility: Willingness to work outdoors and adapt to various situations and settings. NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent): Desirable but not essential.
