There’s no place like Heathrow when it comes to the scale of our ambitions. Together, we’re working to welcome millions more passengers while ensuring aviation can continue to be a force for good by leading global efforts in sustainability. Our Communications, Communities and Carbon function brings together engagement, communications and sustainability leadership. This is about more than protecting and enhancing our reputation. Focusing on the experiences of our passengers, colleagues and partners, we ensure that as Heathrow thrives, so too will our people, our communities, our country and our world. Our sustainability strategy, Heathrow 2.0, is central to everything we do. We are committed to sustainable aviation, as Heathrow works to deliver net zero and build a better place to live and work. We work with industry leading experts to deliver on our ambitions, meeting the growing international demand for flight in a way that creates a positive impact far beyond our airport. This is a unique time at Heathrow as we continue to grow back better, and what the Communications team do has a wide-ranging impact. As a Press Officer (Corporate) you will take on a leading role in ensuring that our story, as a complex and high-profile organisation, is told accurately in the media. You’ll be protecting and enhancing our reputation through compelling communications and working on exciting projects that only the UK’s hub airport can offer. No two days will be the same in this role; one day you might be providing press office support in a crisis and the next hosting a segment for the evening news bulletins at the airport. You will need an eye for detail and the ability to keep on top of many moving parts, with the confidence to build strong relationships with stakeholders and the media. If you're ready to take your career to the next level, and be part of a close-knit driven team, taking on work that you can have real pride in and feel passionate about, we want to hear from you. Responsibilities Proactively developing relationships with media stakeholders. Monitoring the Press Office inbox, responding to journalist queries and proactively flagging areas of media interest. Developing briefing material for company spokespeople and managing media interviews. Participating in Heathrow’s crisis communications team roster. You will have the temperament and judgement to be able to hold a line under pressure and maintain professionalism in difficult circumstances. Collaboration with other teams across Heathrow – working most closely with the External Affairs, Policy, and Internal Communications teams – to help deliver the objectives of the airport’s communications strategy. Requirements Excellent written and verbal communication skills, gained in a Communications role. Demonstrable experience working in a press office and an appreciation of the complexities of working in a corporate environment. An exceptional customer first mindset and personal resilience, with the ability to work with professionalism in sometimes high-profile circumstances. Strong teamwork ethic. A keen news sense and an ability to quickly understand complex material. Self-assurance in replying to media queries. Benefits We offer competitive salaries and excellent benefits that will support you now and in the future. As well as performance-based annual bonuses and our longer-term Share in Success Bonus plans, we also offer generous annual leave allowances and market-leading pensions. With family friendly policies, access to private health insurance and a wide range of wellbeing tools, we’ll support you to be at your best inside and outside work. And of course, we’ll provide varied learning and development opportunities too. Here you’ll find everything you need for a fulfilling career journey that can take you in exciting directions.
