Based at: Brookhouse Mill, Holme Mill and Hemel Hempstead
Job purpose: The Health and Safety Manager will oversee and implement comprehensive safety programs to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and to promote a safe workplace environment for all employees. This role is crucial in preventing workplace accidents, ensuring employee wellbeing, and maintaining operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assess all sites for compliance to ISO45001 and assist in creating a roadmap to attaining this.
* Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with relevant regulations.
* Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities to identify potential risks and recommend corrective actions.
* Lead investigations of any incidents or near-misses to ascertain cause and necessary improvements in safety protocols.
* Facilitate safety training programs and workshops for employees.
* Maintain and update all necessary documentation related to health and safety regulations and company policies.
* Collaborate with department heads to ensure a consistent approach to safety measures across the organization.
* Act as the principal contact for all health and safety regulatory matters.
* Monitor, evaluate, and enforce legislation changes in health and safety.
* Prepare and present safety metrics and performance reports to senior management with escalation protocols.
* Conduct relevant H&S training using both external resources and own 'toolbox talks' & hazard walks.
* Adhere to and promote the Cormar Values.
Other:
* Understand how own role impacts on the organisation and its objectives.
* Contribute to company improvement initiatives (e.g. MSQ surveys, culture surveys).
* A flexible approach to assist with other duties as required and if called upon during unsociable hours.
Skills / Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in occupational health, Safety Management, or related field.
* Internal auditor of ISO45001.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in health and safety management within a busy manufacturing environment.
* Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent.
* Strong knowledge of safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
