Materials Analysis is an Oxford Instruments Business Unit that manages our Electron Microscopy and Mechanical Microscopy products, Atomic Force Microscopes, Raman Microscopes and Benchtop NMR Products. We are part of the wider Oxford Instruments Group that also includes Andor Technology, NanoScience, Plasma Technology and X-Ray Technology. We are looking for a Principal Electronics Design Engineer to join our New Production Introduction team based in High Wycombe. The main purpose of the role is the design and delivery of electronics solutions for our Materials Analysis products.

* Experienced with low noise electronics design and the ability to model electronic systems to predict noise performance
* Experienced in designing complex SMT multilayer PCBs of 500 components or more

Role and responsibilities:
* Take responsibility for technical solutions within specific electronics development projects, working flexibly within a multidisciplinary team to deliver the product. Set up and participate in design reviews and keep thorough design and implementation records
* Provide “go to” expertise on electronics issues for the wider technology team. Mentor colleagues to develop their skills in using electronics tools and methodologies. Input to the architectural design process
* Design and execute tests to validate systems solutions at appropriate points throughout the product development lifecycle. Ensure new products are transferred adequately to manufacturing and customer support, ensuring appropriate documentation is in place
* Provide support for existing products and ongoing support for new products as needed. Including managing engineering changes using official ECR/ECO/BP procedures in our PLM tool
* Plan, estimate, prioritise and manage own work and work closely with other team members to achieve integrated solutions consistent with project milestones
* Recommend new tools and techniques that will continue to improve product quality and the development process
* Maintain an understanding of the concepts, techniques and requirements of your role. Keep up with trends in your field as well as your specific job area and maintain a good working knowledge of this organisation
* Operate at all times in accordance with health & safety at work legislation
Location and working hours:
This is a hybrid role in High Wycombe. We have a 37 hour working week, with flexible working hours and a 12:30 Friday finish.
