Here at Kernow Veterinary Group part of IVC Evidensia we have an exciting opportunity to expand our Small Animal Team, due to the successful progression of our current students into becoming Registered Veterinary Nurses.
We are looking to recruit a student veterinary nurse and will consider any Diploma student that is already enrolled on the SVN course or a 3rd-year FdSc student.
We are looking for a student who is dedicated to your studies and has some experience in animal care and welfare. The role is varied and with training, support and experience it will include working alongside our experienced and certificate-holding surgeons during routine, emergency and orthopaedic surgery, or our dedicated medical vets helping to care for inpatients. There will also be an opportunity to assist and carry out some nurse clinics and support our reception team as required.

We provide high quality care to our dedicated client base, and are an RCVS Accredited (General Practice) and a Nurse Training Practice.

More about you
We are looking for friendly, down to earth candidates with a genuine interest in animal welfare who can support and develop a cat friendly working environment. You will need to enjoy the variety provided by the clients and colleagues alike. You will have excellent customer service and communication skills, be an effective team player, and have an organised and systematic approach when making decisions to be able to carry out the role and study efficiently.
This role is full-time - 40 hours per week with unpaid breaks. Your time at college is paid for as part of your 40 hours. The rotas will vary as we carry out our 24-hour inpatient care, and your rota will include working as part of the out-of-hours team. Currently, the OOH is one shift every other weekend, which is either a day shift or a night shift on a competency basis. This again is included in your hours so time off will be given in the week leading up to any OOH work. There will be no sole charge, and you will be working alongside a very supportive and dedicated team. Bank holidays are shared throughout the whole support team. We also pay an uplift to your hourly rate for any night duties worked.
The salary for this role is £22,308.
