Description Job Title: Operations Manager Grade: M2 Reporting To: Senior Operations Manager Sector: E Fulfilment - Wickes Location: Wickes Northampton Days of working/ shifts: Variety of Days Hours core 12:00 to 20:00pm with flexibility to cover 24hour period Summary and purpose of position: The role holder will manage the shifts, leading two warehouses across all shifts; to achieve all KPI’s in a safety-first operation. They ensure all warehouse operations are efficient, effective and an engaging place to work. Working closely with H&S, Stock & Systems, Facilities, People & Finance Duties and responsibilities • Provide leadership, coaching and direction to managers and colleagues in all warehouse areas, making safety a priority • Ensure all orders are picked accurately, packed adequately and dispatched on time, with the best standards and service levels • Ensure compliance to procedures in all areas of responsibility • Ensure that sales and profit targets are achieved together with the effective maintenance of operational standards in accordance with Company policies & procedures • To act as a catalyst in identifying opportunities to improve business performance through active reviews of current process and procedure • Lead change within the operation, to further improve profitability and performance of the site • Monitor labour & recruitment, using agency or FT recruitment to ensure headcounts are maintained • Ensure the efficient running of the MHE fleet and ensuring any maintenance issues are resolved • P&L responsibilities and understanding, reportable to senior managers • Providing support, guidance & performance management of the management team • Confidently manage external relationships with contractors and visitors on site and maintain key operational and customer service standards at all times • Responsible for the full 24-hour operation, with requirements to be flexible to visit all shifts on a monthly basis, dealing with any performance or people issues • Provide KPI / SLA reports to Senior Management team as required, providing insight and recommendations for improvement • Lead the management team in creating succession plans for all relevant roles • Actively promote an engaging workplace, ensuring that Our People Promise is fully embedded • Ensure the effective management of absence, sickness & holidays, conduct & performance in line with policies & procedures • Inspire the team to exceed the customer contractual KPI’s & site KPI’s • Administration of team in all appropriate People systems • To perform any other management function as required by the business Experience, skills and attributes: Essential Desirable • Experience in leading a warehouse management team • Experience managing P&L • Flexible across the 7-day working week • Ability to influence and work with the senior management team • Enthusiastic approach to work • Adaptable, Organized, time critical decision maker, strong forward planning skills • Experience in Continuous Improvement • Coaching skills • Project experience • Experience working in a 3PL • Ability to motivate a diverse team and drive engagement • Focus on continuous improvement in various areas of work environment • Active listener who can adjust their communication style to their audience to get buy in from their stakeholders • Eager to support their team in their personal development journey and promote learning culture Individuals are expected to model Wincanton’s values in all they do: Excellence Integrity Passion Proactivity Togetherness Trust
