St Leonard’s Catholic School is a highly successful secondary school with sixth form located in the historic cathedral city of Durham. Our school provides a stimulating and encouraging environment within which pupils can attain the highest standards of which they are capable, and to assist them in taking their place in the world outside school in a useful and fulfilling career, with a firm sense of Catholic commitment.
St Leonard’s was named as part of the national School’s Re-Building Programme and with plans in the advanced stages, the new school build will open in Spring 2026. At present, the school is split across two sites in close proximity to one another. Our new temporary site; Our Lady of Help, opened earlier last year.
St Leonard’s is one of the highest achieving schools in the North-East with a GCSE progress score of c.+0.70 in 2024. Our students also achieve equally impressive results at A Level and we are amongst the most successful schools in the region for applications to Oxbridge and Russell Group Universities.
