We're working with a large pan-European manufacturing business, which operates 7 days a week, that is actively seeking to add an experienced Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join its site Manufacturing Engineering Support teams.
Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical bias)
40 hours per week - Monday to Friday based on Double Day shift - 6am-2pm/2pm-10pm
Participation in weekend On Call Rota (approx 1 in 5).
Location: nr Melksham, Wiltshire
Salary: Circa £40,000 plus on call allowance
Responsibilities:
1. Reactive Maintenance on automated production machinery
2. Pre-planned Maintenance (PPM) - Input to and carry out preventive maintenance routines
3. Mechanical fault finding
4. Fault finding and repair on hydraulic or pneumatic systems
5. Small installation projects
6. Continuous Improvement to maintain optimal machine efficiency
7. To keep clean any areas in which you are working, including transit areas to and from the workshop, the workshop and stores
8. Support the Operations team in achieving targets
9. Complying to the company's Health and Safety policies and procedures
10. Contributing to cost effective technical solutions
11. Deliver to the operational expectations
12. Be part of a weekend call-out rota
Qualifications:
1. A recognised engineering qualification in mechanical engineering to a level of City and Guilds level 3/ NVQ level 3
2. Experience working as a Maintenance Engineer or as a dedicated Mechanical Engineer in a Manufacturing environment
3. Experience in the print, packaging or associated industries would be great but is not essential. Experience in a manufacturing or industrial automation environment is critical
4. Strong mechanical skills to repair machinery to keep downtime to a minimum
5. Excellent mechanical fault finding and diagnostic skills
6. Ability to read and interpret engineering diagrams
7. Experience with maintenance PPM and RM programmes
8. Some electrical experience would be beneficial
9. Ideally experience working a buddy system with an Electrical Engineer
10. Good communication, organisational and teamwork skills
11. Self-motivation, ability to apply initiative and determination
Specific training where required will be provided, OEM suppliers and via remote modem diagnostic support from the OEM. This is a great opportunity to join a leading manufacturer in a key mechanical engineering role, working on large scale machinery in a time-sensitive manufacturing environment.
