Are you looking for an opportunity to be part of a new service model that is working in partnership with local services to meet the needs of those presenting with complex mental health needs? This is a permanent full-time (10 PAs) post in General Adult Psychiatry. The emphasis is to provide timely and comprehensive assessment, interventions, and treatment to service users and their families/carers, whilst working within a multi-disciplinary team format. We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist with an interest in providing strong medical leadership as the post involves providing clinical leadership to the team as part of a collective leadership structure, which shares responsibility for ensuring that the care delivered by the service is safe and of a high-quality standard.
Why move to our County? Shropshire is often described as a 'rural gem'. It combines the best of old and new, has vast open spaces, and a strong range of education provisions.
Main duties of the job
This post enables dedicated Consultant input into one of our five Integrated Community Mental Services (CMHS) that are based across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin. You will be expected to provide community care and treatment, with the facility for assessment of referred service users, flexible review of complex service users, and timely discharge in liaison with GPs. Service users will present with a range of mental health difficulties and needs. The role is aligned to the Telford & Wrekin CMHS, which comprises four PCNs. This service in total has 4.2 Adult Consultants and 2 Older Adult Consultants. The post is aligned to cover 1 of the PCNs (Wrekin PCN).
The role involves providing clinical leadership to the team as part of a collective leadership structure and providing support and supervision as required to Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Non-Medical Prescribers. The Post Holder will have responsibility to supervise a trainee attached to the team, although as with any training post this is subject to trainee availability. Opportunities are also available in the Trust to participate in postgraduate and undergraduate education for Junior Doctors and Medical Students from Keele Medical School.
We would love to hear from you to discuss how together we might design this role around you and your specialist interests. We are committed to enabling flexible working and would welcome a discussion on how this could be achieved for you, with options including working remotely from home.
