An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our diverse and friendly Accommodation and Support Team for 2 full time Tenancy Support Workers and one Eighteen and a half hour role, initially for a 12 month contract. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are committed to providing an excellent service to our homeless and at times vulnerable customers within the Accommodation and Support Team. As a Tenancy Support Worker, you will deal with various enquiries from your case load, predominantly face to face, home visits but also over the telephone, text, or online. This is a fast-paced team in a challenging environment, that at times can be reactive, you need to be able to respond effectively, efficiently and in a timely manner to a wide range of customer enquiries, you will be collaborating with other teams within the Council and our partners. To empower service users to live independently, behaving in an appropriate fashion, in a council tenancy, paying their rent and not causing Anti-Social Behaviour in their community. You must have excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills. A customer focussed approach to your work is essential. Working across various computer systems and applications will be required therefore, good computer literacy and keyboard skills will be essential. As you will be required as a regular and intrinsic part of your role, to speak to members of the public in English, you must be able to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English. These posts will then be reviewed for a potential to extend. The majority of our tenants have complex needs and are experiencing the stress and trauma of homelessness. As a Tenancy Support Worker, you will need to be knowledgeable regarding vulnerabilities and safeguarding from housing perspective. You will need to be flexible as we have several sites that require staff cover, and this can be from 7.45am to 5.15pm on a rota basis. The working week is for 37 hours Monday to Friday. This role is to support Council tenants in managing their temporary home, whilst they are seeking a permanent home. This will involve supporting your tenant's journey from signup until they move on to a suitable secure home for their needs. As a Tenancy Support Worker, you will be confident in dealing with a case load which is constantly changing as tenants move on. Some tenant will have challenging behaviour, and you will ensure you take enforcement action appropriately to ensure all tenancy conditions are adhered to with the support of the Senior Tenancy Support Worker and the Management Team. You will visit customers in their own homes on a regular basis, undertaking intensive work where required with households to help them successfully maintain their tenancies. This will include dealing with sensitive issues such as safeguarding, substance / alcohol misuse, mental health, and parenting. You will often be lone working and will need to risk assess your own safety. You will effectively manage your own caseload, taking a flexible and innovative approach to supporting the households to help them successfully maintain their temporary tenancies prior to moving on.
